Shrine of Our Lady of Comfort in Jodlowka
The Roman Catholic Church of St. Nicholas in Pruchnik

While the Roman Catholic Pruchnik Parish dates back to 1436 when the Gothic-style, masonry church was erected and dedicated as Saint Nicholas, the Greek Catholic Pruchnik Parish dates back to 1611 and a new church was erected in 1871. In 1785, the Deanery of Pruchnik (an extended area comprised of eight Greek Catholic parishes) contained 9278 ethnic Poles, 8572 Ruthenians, and 716 Jews. Both Pruchnik parishes headed the local deanery (dekanat) of their respectives churches.

In 1900, the five villages of Pruchnik Parish were in the Jaroslau (Jaroslaw) administrative district and Pruchnik township (gmina). Pruchnik held a synagogue where the Jewish residents of the five villages worshipped. It also held a Roman Catholic parish church where Roman Catholics from twelve nearby villages worshipped.

In 1888, the town of Pruchnik contained 205 homes and 740 Roman Catholic, 188 Greek Catholic, and 188 Jewish residents. In 1921, it had a population of 1697 residents.
