Porabka Uszewska Historical Catholic Parish, Malopolskie, Poland

In the late 19th Century, all of the villages of Porabka Uszewka Parish were in the Brzesko administrative district but Doly, Loniowy, and Porabka Uszewska were in Brzesko township (gmina) while Jaworsko and Lysa Gora were in Wojnicz township and Niedzwiedza was in Zakliczyn township.
At that time, Porabka Uszewka itself had 204 homes and 1132 residents while the territory of entire parish held 4766 Roman Catholic and 71 Jewish residents. (Jewish residents worshipped at either Brzesko or Wojnicz.)

The gem of this parish is Groty Matki Bozej z Lourdes - a religious sanctuary in the Diocese of Tarnow and replica of the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. The project was started in 1900 by Father Jan Palka, vicar of the parish, after his pilgrimage to Lourdes.
