According old chronicles, this parish dates back to 1341 AD and was then part of the Diocese of Krakow. The current church was built in 1900.

In 1890, Staromiescie, and its adjacent villages of Milocin and Zaczernie, were in the Rzeszow administrative district and Rzeszow township (gmina). Jewish residents worshipped in Rzeszow. Greek Catholic residents of Staromiescie worshipped at Zalesie. The villages of Nowa Wies Zaczerska and Trzebownisko were in the Rzeszow administrative district but Glogow township. Jewish residents of these villages worshipped at Glogow.
