Jan Olko reports that Baranow Parish dates back to 1354 and King Kazimierz the Great; other sources suggest perhaps the 12th Century. In any event, construction of the current church was funded by Baron Jan Leszczynski in 1604-1607.

In 1900, Baranow and its neighboring villages were in the Tarnobrzeg administrative district and Tarnobrzeg township. Jewish residents of these villages worshipped at Baranow. There were no Greek Catholic residents recorded.
