Parish Church of St. Vitus

Monument to the AK - the WWII Polish Home Army
Although the first documented reference of Sierpc is dated 1065, the Catholic parish in Sierpc was apparently formed in the 14th Century. The current church dates back to 1569 and was rebuilt in 1861.

During the years of the Partitions of Poland, Sierpc was in the Russian Partition, but only about twenty-five miles away from the Prussian Partition. The parish currently has 11,890 parishioners.
